Bus Rules and Expectations

Student Conduct

Students must:

  • Follow the driver’s instructions at all times
  • Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves and inside the bus.
  • Remain properly and safely seated while the bus is in motion
  • Speak kindly and quietly using appropriate language.
  • Help create a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
  • Be at the bus stop 10 minutes early.
  • Not eat or drink on the bus.
  • Not bully, intimidate, smoke, vape, or use drugs/alcohol on the bus or at the stop.

 

Ridership Guidelines

  • "One-off" rides (temporary or occasional riders) are not allowed at this time.
  • Elementary students must have a parent or principal-signed permission slip to get off at a stop other than their assigned one.

 

Disciplinary Actions

A student causing distractions, harm, or discomfort may face consequences such as:

  1. Verbal warning from the driver
  2. School Bus Incident Report
  3. Written warning
  4. Suspension of bus privileges

 

Actions That May Lead to Suspension

  • Repeated offenses
  • Striking/fighting
  • Vandalism
  • Spitting
  • Throwing objects from windows
  • Vaping/smoking
  • Using flammable items
  • Laser pointer misuse
  • Possession of weapons
  • Tampering with emergency equipment
  • Unauthorized use of emergency exits
  • Any other serious violations

 

Suspensions may be for an undetermined length and can involve a meeting with school district staff. Severe incidents may lead to immediate disciplinary action.
