Russian Immersion

SD20 offers an early partial-immersion, K-6 English-Russian Bilingual program. Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 are hosted at Castlegar Primary School. Grades 3-7 are hosted at Twin Rivers Elementary School. The program is well-established and recognized Provincially, Nationally, and Internationally.

Kindergarten instruction is totally in Russian; grades 1-3 50% of instruction is in Russian and 50% is in English; grades 4-7, Russian constitutes 20% of the program (up to 1 hour per day).

Russian as a second language program is an option available to learners in Castlegar area schools. This option allows students to continue with Russian language instruction beginning at the grade 5 level and extending to grade 12.
