The Kootenay-Columbia School District is located on the slopes of the picturesque Monashee and Selkirk Mountains, and in the valleys of the Lower Columbia River Basin. The district serves six municipalities and numerous small communities.
Over 4200 school age students attend 14 schools, including eight elementary and three secondary schools and three alternate schools. The District also operates a HomeLearner Program as well as a Community Education Program. Over 650 employees work for School District No. 20.
Located in southwestern B.C., close to the U.S. border and on the Columbia River, our students are being prepared for a prosperous and productive future.

FRIENDS Parent Training Workshops provide parents with the opportunity to become informed about the FRIENDS tools and life skills that their children are learning in the classroom. They also learn how best to support their children in using these skills. This workshop will be co-facilitated by certified Parent Trainers and a Child & Youth Mental Health Clinician.
The FRIENDS program is a school-based early intervention and prevention program, proven to be effective in building resilience and reducing the risk of anxiety disorders in children. It teaches children how to cope with fears and worries and equips them with tools to help manage difficult situations, now and later in life. The FRIENDS program is sponsored by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, school districts, independent schools and First Nations Schools Association.
